Sophia Mervenne - Instructor:

Sophia started dancing at the age of 5 at a small studio near her hometown of Davison, Michigan. There, she studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, hip hop and partner work. At the age of 8, she started competing in solos, duos, trios, group routines, etc. Sophia enjoyed being a teacher's assistant for a variety of ages groups and skill levels, where her passion for teaching began to grow. Sophia was able to continue her dance career as a member of the Laker Dance Team at Grand Valley State University. She gained experience performing at football and basketball games, local events and competing at the DII national level where her team acquired 4 national championships. During her years on her college dance team, she had the opportunity to teach master classes, judge a regional dance team competition and choreograph for high school and middle school dance programs. Shortly after graduation, she moved to the Spartanburg, SC area where she is pursuing her career in Communications and is excited to continue teaching dance. Sophia looks forward to inspiring young dancers and teaching them everything that dance has to offer, inside and outside of the studio.
