Experienced, energetic, reliable Hip Hop Instructor to join our award-winning teaching staff for a long-term position.
We are seeking an instructor who is comfortable teaching beginner through advanced Hip Hop to dancers ages 6 through teens. The ideal candidate has strong Hip Hop technique, musicality and choreography skills, along with the ability to create fun, challenging, age-appropriate classes for dancers at very different stages of their training.
Applicants should be high-energy, creative, dependable and confident classroom leaders with previous dance teaching experience and strong classroom management skills.
Responsibilities
Teach weekly engaging Hip Hop classes for dancers ages 6 through teens
Teach beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
Create age- and level-appropriate choreography
Develop structured lesson plans that build technique, musicality, style and performance quality
Maintain a positive, encouraging and well-managed classroom
Challenge advanced dancers while creating an approachable environment for beginners
Prepare choreography for our annual performances and other studio events
Communicate professionally with students, families and fellow staff members
Collaborate with our teaching and creative team as needed
Be dependable and committed to students throughout the dance season
Qualifications
Previous Hip Hop teaching experience required
Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching children and/or teens preferred
Strong Hip Hop technique, vocabulary, musicality and choreography skills
Ability to confidently teach dancers ranging from beginner through advanced
Strong classroom and behavior management skills
Ability to connect with and motivate both younger dancers and teenagers
Creative, energetic and positive teaching style
Dependable, professional and able to commit to a long-term teaching position
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Artistic Edge Dance Center is looking for experienced, dependable dance instructors interested in joining our Substitute Teacher List for the 2026–2027 season.
This is a great opportunity for experienced teachers who may not be able to commit to a regular weekly schedule but would like to teach when opportunities arise. It is also a wonderful way to get to know our studio, staff and dancers, with the potential for regular classes, choreography and additional teaching opportunities in the future.
We are looking for instructors experienced in one or more of the following:
Ballet
Jazz
Contemporary/Lyrical
Tap
Hip Hop
Acro
What We're Looking For
Our substitute teachers should be:
Experienced dance instructors with a strong technical background
Dependable and reliable — if you commit to covering a class, we need to know you'll be there!
Confident teaching and managing a classroom independently
Comfortable working with children and/or teens
Able to quickly adapt to different ages, levels and class styles
Positive, energetic and encouraging with dancers
Professional in their communication with students, families and staff
Comfortable following another teacher's lesson plans when provided, while also being capable of creating their own class when needed
Strong in classroom management and able to keep dancers engaged, productive and having fun
Position Details
This is an as-needed substitute position with no required weekly commitment. Substitute opportunities will vary throughout the season based on teacher absences and studio needs.
We are especially interested in building relationships with teachers who may be interested in becoming a larger part of the Artistic Edge staff in the future. Substitute teaching gives both you and our studio an opportunity to make sure we're a great fit for one another before regular teaching opportunities become available.
Previous dance teaching experience is required.
